Health professionals in rural settings treat a wide variety of medical conditions requiring a large breadth of knowledge to manage this clinical practice. This manuscript uses mixed methods (interviews, focus groups, observation and questionnaires) to identify barriers and challenges to CPD in rural settings.

This serial cross-sectional study used data from the Medicare Patient Safety Monitoring System from 2010 to 2019 to assess adverse events in four condition groups and included over 244,000 patients. Analysis shoed a significant decrease in adverse event rates in the four conditions.

This study used a validated consensus method, the nominal group technique (NGT), to identify patient reported experience measures (PREM) related to cardiovascular disease preventions deemed most important by both patients and providers. The results highlight the patient experience and the therapeutic relationship. Questionnaires of prioritized PREM items maybe a valuable in CPD and quality improvement.

This was a systematic review of Medline and Embase that identified studies of peer evaluation and feedback related to procedures in internal medicine and its related subspecialties. It concluded that peer evaluation of invasive medical procedures is feasible and generally demonstrates good or excellent inter-observer agreement when structured tools are used.

This was a systematic review of MEDLINE, Embase, PsycInfo, and the Cochrane Database for comparative cost evaluations of CPD for practicing physicians. Certain components contribute more to total costs than others and should be prioritized in cost evaluations.
