Dear Colleagues,
We hope that you all enjoyed the holiday break and look forward to a new year of continued challenging work in CPD. And what better way to start the new year off is transitioning to our new and improved publication application called WordPress. The aim and intent is to provide our members with an improved reading experience and to give CE News a more professional, ‘state of the art’ look. We are grateful to Vjeko Hlede, PhD, co-chair of the SACME Technology Committee, and our SACME staff Mik, Maddy and Courtney for their guidance, expertise and dedicated effort in making this transition a reality in a relatively short timeframe.
In this issue, we are pleased to introduce a new standing column entitled CE News Spotlight. This column is aimed at highlighting the successes, challenges and opportunities of our SACME CPD programs and leaders. Our aim is to provide a “close-up and personal” look at the work of our members by providing a venue for members to tell us their stories. Also, Spotlight will take full advantage of virtual e-learning technology and be presented in two formats—as recorded interviews and as traditional written articles, allowing our readers to select the most comfortable learning format for themselves. Going forward, we plan to present 2 institutional profiles per issue—one U.S. and one Canadian member institution. We hope you enjoy and learn from the work experiences presented by our members.
This issue continues to provide column articles and guest authors. Joseph Szot, MD and Craig Campbell, MD (Publications & Scholarship) provide a dynamic listing of current peer-reviewed articles most relevant to our CPD community of clinician-educators and CPD professionals. Read one or all and learn! In Tips & Innovations, guest authors Teresa Chan, MD and Jennifer Bryan, MD give us their 5 essential tips to guide your development of an institutional curriculum in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. The International CME/CPD column, guest author Carol Pizzuti presents a new structure of rigorous requirements recently adopted in Australia for CME/CPD for all physicians at the federal and local levels.
Wishing you an exciting new year!
Your editors,
Robert and Helen
